Cornhole, y’all

Weekend: on the way.  Thank goodness.  Short week notwithstanding, friends, I need a Saturday.  Maybe you do too?

And if you happen to be looking for some fun and friendly competition, I’ll put in a plug for the Second Annual Cornhole Classic.  It’s Saturday at high noon, in front of Isaac Hunter’s Tavern.  There will be a bracket.  There will be smack talk. There will be cornhole.

Um, true confessions, I actually don’t like cornhole. At all.  It makes me feel like I am back in middle school P.E. class when I can’t throw the beanbag anywhere near the hole. And I had both glasses and braces in middle school P.E. class, and I don’t want to go back to that dark place. BUT the fun thing about not playing cornhole, is that you can heckle your friends playing cornhole. Also, there will be Lone Rider beer, and there will be food trucks.  And it’ll be great people watching.

All the proceeds, by the way, are going to the Interfaith Food Shuttle‘s Backpack Buddies program.  On Fridays, Backpack Buddies sends backpacks full of food home with at-risk school kids, to help struggling families get through the weekend.  The folks at Triangle Breakfast Club, who are putting on the Cornhole Classic, have committed to funding enough backpacks for Brentwood Elementary School for a year.  Now THAT is a cause worth playing for.  C’mon out!
